(Un)corporate culture

Flexible work hours, pet-friendly offices, remote work, personalized work spaces. We want everybody working here to have the maximum amount of freedom to decide how to get their work done. For that reason, we’ve minimized the number of house rules down to only one: “Always do what is in the company’s best interest.” We believe that our employees are responsible people who can be trusted to make the right decisions without having someone looking over their shoulder.

The selection process

We see hiring as a two-way street. We think it’s just as much our job to impress you as is yours to impress us. That’s why instead of having “interviews”, we prefer to have relaxed chats.

How exactly does it work?

Until we get our hands on a mind reading device, we kindly ask you to take the initiative and express your interest in working with us. If you don’t, we won’t know you are interested and that would be a real shame.

So, the first order of business is for you to get in touch. You can take the more traditional route of sending us your CV and work portfolio, or you can do something totally off the beaten track. It doesn’t matter to us what you decide to do.

After we go through the stuff you send us and we like what we see, we’ll invite you to our offices to sit down with us (or invite you for a skype call if you don’t live near-by). Depending on the job type and position, we might ask you to do a task either before or during the visit/call. The task is not really intended to test you but to help us get a better understanding of your way of thinking.

Next we want to find out who you are. We want to know what ideas get your blood flowing, what you enjoy doing and what you don’t enjoy doing. It is equally important for us that during this time you get a really good sense of who we are, what we do and how we do it. That way you can make an informed decision whether you want to join us.

With the initial conversation over, if you still have things you want to discuss, we’ll gladly sit down again and talk about everything that is on your mind. Usually by the end of this process, both parties get a pretty good idea whether we are a match or not. If so, we’ll warmly welcome you to the 3fs family.

Perks

Often it’s the more intangible perks that make the biggest difference. (Scroll further down for the more tangible perks.)

Work environment

We keep our work environment healthy. Ambient lights, air ionizers, ergonomic chairs and standing desks are the norm. Our kitchen is stacked with healthy snacks, organic tea and coffee.

To keep everyone’s creative light shining bright, we have themed rooms, a pool table, a zen room to chillax and some cool gadgets like Oculus Rift.

Location

You’ll be working in Slovenia, which is a part of the Schengen (no customs or police control on borders with other EU countries in the Schengen zone) and the Eurozone (the Euro is the official currency). We personally love the fact that it is a place where you can ski in the Alps in the morning and sip tea (or wine) on the Mediterranean coast in the afternoon.

Want to know more?

The official language is Slovene, but since learning Slovene is like getting a tattoo on your behind (it’s painful, it takes a while and one rarely gets the opportunity to show it off), most people here are fluent in English plus a few other European languages (most often Italian or German). English is also the working language at 3fs.

Our company is located in Kranj, a smaller city with 50 thousand inhabitants that lies on the outskirts of Ljubljana, the capital. Ljubljana is one of the safest European capitals and lately (for better or worse) also quite the place for hipsters.

The country itself is tiny. From Ljubljana, it takes max two hours in just about any direction to reach the border. It’s where the Alps, the Mediterranean and the Pannonian Basin meet, so the scenery changes dramatically in those two hours. Being on the crossroads of a few distinct cultures means Slovenia offers many different cuisines, but in case you get bored here, awesome weekend trips are a relatively short car ride away (2,5 h to Venice, 3,5 h to Vienna, 4h to Budapest, 7h to Dubrovnik).

In case you want to explore further, you can get cheap flights from either Ljubljana or other airports nearby (Trieste, Venice, Rijeka, Zagreb, Graz, Budapest). Ryanair, Easyjet, Wizzair and others will fly you to most parts of Europe for a 100 EUR or less for a return ticket.

We have a young and dynamic IT scene with a good mix of well-established global players and up & coming startups. Startup accelerators are springing up like mushrooms around the country (as are microbreweries with excellent ales) and there are coworking spaces abound.

Going out for lunch will cost you 5-10 EUR, a beer after work will set you back about 3 EUR.

If you decide to work at 3fs, we’ll give you a hand in finding good accommodation and do the best we can to ease your pain of re-locating. We always set aside a budget for these kinds of activities, so you can be sure the process will be as smooth as possible. You can also get a complimentary Intro to Slovenian wining and dining from one of our devoted in-house connoisseurs on your arrival here.

Values

What we find important and what we do to act accordingly.
